kisha hughes

richmond, va

kisha was introduced to yoga at the age of 12 when she discovered a yoga segment at the end of an mtv grind dance vhs. it took another twelve years for her to dip her toes into a yoga practice, and another two years for her to dive in with her whole body and heart. once she began to practice regularly, she thought “i wonder how different life could have been had i discovered yoga earlier?” this inspired her to get certified through yokid to teach children’s yoga. she has taught yoga to children at the furious flower poetry (now creativity) camp in harrisonburg, virginia since 2015, though she has taught poetry, writing and journaling classes at the camp since 2009. she received her ryt 200 in the yogaworks teacher training  held by yoga source. kisha’s definition of yoga is that yoga means paying attention: paying attention to your mind, body, thoughts, spirituality and to all of the little things that make up life’s big picture. she is a writer, teacher, book hoarder, library-lover and a fan of the arts. her classes are detail-oriented, light-hearted, creative and embued with love. her wish is that her students leave her classes reflecting on yoga’s transformative power.
