history - from india to santa monica
our founders, maty ezraty, chuck miller and alan finger were all serious and highly accomplished yoga practioners who wanted to share the gifts they learned from their own wise teachers. when they opened our first montana avenue school back in 1987, they gathered together many styles of yoga under one roof, attracting the best teaching talent in southern california. they sought to uphold the 5,000-year-old tradition of yoga by infusing their programs with integrity, quality, authenticity, and a warm welcome to every student.
in 1990, when the demand for well-trained yoga teachers began to grow in the u.s., maty, with the help and inspiration of senior teachers chuck miller and lisa walford, created the highly renowned yogaworks teacher training program. based on direct teachings from indian yoga masters, this program has formed and guided leading teachers across the world including kathryn budig, annie carpenter, seane corn, vinnie marino, saul david ray, shiva rea, and more.
