The weekend is divided into two sections: a teacher's intensive and a weekend workshop with four separate sessions. You may sign up for the entire workshop or for individual sessions. The teacher intensive is not included in the cost of the entire workshop. Continuing Education credits offered.

take flight – the art of teaching arm balances
friday 9/17/2010, 10 - 12:30 pm — $100 for entire intensive
For many students, arm balances seem like a family of poses designed for another species. When we present them as reconfigurations of other more familiar poses, however, the love affair begins. Combining strength, flexibility, focus, and poise, these postures become wonderful vehicles for introspection, exploration, and self-discovery, empowering your students to experience themselves in a whole new way.
fearless upside down – demystifying headstand & shoulderstand
friday 9/17/2010, 2 - 4:30 pm — $100 for entire intensive
Often described as the King and the Queen of the asana, for many students Headstand and Shoulderstand instead end up being the proverbial pain in the neck. With both poses it’s a combination of openness and strength in the upper body that will protect the vulnerable cervical spine and allow one to experience the delights of inversion. Discover how thoughtful preparation and a clean foundation can equip students to go upside down without trepidation or injury, and stay there with confidence and comfort.

joyous backbends - set your spine free
saturday 9/18/2010, 10 - 1 pm — $70
Backbends can be some of the most liberating and exhilarating poses in Yoga. Sometimes, however, they create feelings of compression and discomfort instead of openness and freedom. The solution lies in understanding how to take pressure off the spine. Using a sequence of progressively more challenging backbends, we will explore the alignment and preparatory poses that allow the spine to move freely so you can experience the true bliss of these transformative postures.
open your hips - and open the door to everything else...
saturday 9/18/2010, 2:30 - 5:30 pm — $70
When our range of motion is compromised in a given area, the surrounding joints can be vulnerable. In the case of tight hips, the knees and the lower back are at risk, leading to discomfort and sometimes injury. Through a dynamic sequence of standing, seated and supine poses we’ll open the hips in a variety of directions, and then discover how flexibility in the hips translates into freedom in the rest of the body, both on the mat and off.
integrated flow - finding the balance between effort and ease
sunday 9/19/2010, 10 - 1 pm — $70
Link breath and movement in a flowing vinyasa practice that will illustrate how weaving themes of intention and action can illuminate and facilitate a world of postures. The class will include hip openers and arm balances, with modifications provided throughout.

Teacher's Intensive: $100
Entire Workshop: $195 ($180 by Sep 7th)
CEU Certificate: $5 per session; $15 entire workshop (includes intensive)
registration & attendance
Registration required to attend. Please call 804.359.YOGA (9642) to enroll. Spaces limited. Students must check in at the front desk before each workshop attended. CE credits only issued for hours attended.
refunds & cancellations
There are no refunds after September 7th. All cancellations will be charged a one time $30 administrative fee. In the event of illness or emergency, credit will be issued to your account only if notified before the start of the workshop. No credits issued on or after September 17th.
yoga source reserves the right to cancel a program at any time. if this is necessary, a full refund will be issued.
